January 2008

A message from Dr. Hasick

I wish to take this opportunity to extend a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year to you.

As we move into 2008 and another chapter of our lives, it is often a time for reflection. In reflection, we look back over the past year(s) and remember the highlights and meaningful moments. We can then look forward with the intention and hope for a healthier and perhaps more peaceful future.

The Britannia Clinic is now in its 28th year since opening. Some things have remained the same, such as our address and phone number, but the staff who are currently committed to help support your healing journey through life, have evolved as well.

Over the years, I have come to better understand the process of healing and respect the complexity attached to each one of our personal journeys. I appreciate how education and lifetime learning are a critical part of our healing process and quality of life. Through my continuing education, both personally and professionally, ongoing learning has been central to helping me make sense of an ever-changing world. It has also helped me to help others understand their particular health challenge from a more holistic point of view.

Most patients come to us in pain. With pain there is usually a significant amount of fear. This fear is often rooted in the worry that things will not improve and the pain will persist for the rest of their lives. Through treatment and education about health care and prevention, much of that fear is dispelled.

Our dedication to excellent clinical care will always remain our greatest priority. From a chiropractic point of view, alignment is central to stability. I have also come to appreciate that alignment is needed on all levels and not just physically. This includes our emotional, intellectual and spiritual well-being. When our lives are well aligned, our vitality, energy and overall health is fully expressed.

Since we also value education along with our clinical care, I have launched the "Clinic Lecture Series". These programs are designed to help you create greater awareness and understanding of what is important for you on your unique journey to health and wellness.

Two "Clinic Lecture Series" events will be happening in the first part of this year. The first program will be the public lecture that I promised to offer regarding The Waldzell Meeting. This past September I attended this global meeting in Austria. For more information see: www.waldzell.org

I am pleased to announce that Ms. Gundula Schatz, the Founder of the Waldzell Meeting will be in attendance. She will address the audience about the vision and future of the Waldzell Meeting, A Global Dialogue for Inspiration and to also reflect on this past September's monumental event.

The group of speakers from the previous Waldzell Meetings contains seven Nobel laureates, including His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, along with numerous artists like Isabel Allende, Paulo Coelho and Christo and Jeanne-Claude, the Pritzker-Price recipients Frank Gehry and Tom Mayne and some of the foremost scientists of our time, like Robert Gallo, the discoverer of HIV, Sir Paul Nurse, President of the Rockefeller University, Ahmed El-Tayyib, Rector of Al-Azhar University Cairo and Peter Senge, author of "The Fifth Discipline".

The complimentary program will be offered to our patients and clients on Monday January 28, 2008 from 7:30-9:30 pm in the Glencoe Club Ballroom. Please RSVP to the clinic by January 25th so that we can keep track of our numbers. Refreshments will be served and as always, space is limited.

The second "Clinic Lecture Series" will be the "Elision" program offered February 28, March 1st and 2nd. Elision is a 3-day program for people entering a significant transition in their lives. It is for those people who wish to create a future that reflects more of who they are and for people who want to create a life that they can passionately care about. If you want to make a successful transition, create a healthy balance and harmony amongst your health, well-being, relationships, and work, then the Elision program will help you do this. To register, please go to the registration page at the Elision website.

In addition to our on-going clinical care, we provide these educational lectures and public forums to support your understanding of our current cultural and personal challenges that create stress. We have experienced through our clinical care and education, greater understanding leads to greater well-being and improved quality of life. Current studies indicate that the flip side of stress is not relaxation, but resilience. The NUCCA procedure has been scientifically proven to enhance physiological adaptability and resilience, a benefit that is now more important than ever regarding our current health challenges.

We are here to help you stay well for as long as possible, with the least amount of intervention from us!

I look forward to seeing you in the clinic or at one of the upcoming Clinic Lecture Series. Once again, on behalf of all of our staff at The Britannia Clinic, we wish you health, happiness and peace,... always.

Sincerely,
D. Gordon Hasick D.C. F.P.A.C.
